Brushed aluminum coils are produced by applying a continuous brushing process to the surface of aluminum coil stock. Compared to individual brushed aluminum sheets, the coil format is better suited for continuous stamping, roll forming, and automated lamination production lines. Brushed finish aluminum coils have become an increasingly popular base material for the decorative, home appliance, and signage industries in overseas markets. Leveraging years of export and manufacturing experience, we tailor our process parameters to the specific processing equipment and operating environments of our clients, helping to minimize material waste during on-site trial production.

Primary alloy grades of brushed aluminum coil include 1100, 3003, and 5052, with 6061 available upon request. We offer thicknesses ranging from 0.2 mm to 3.0 mm, with standard widths of 1000 mm, 1220 mm, and 1524 mm (custom widths up to 1800 mm are available). Standard inner core diameters are φ505 mm or φ405 mm, and coil weights are managed according to the load-bearing capacity of the client’s equipment—typically 2–3 tons per coil. The brushing texture is achieved using abrasive belts ranging from 180# to 800# grit. The 180#–320# range produces a coarser, more pronounced texture, commonly used for architectural facades and decorative wall panels. The 400#–600# range is the preferred choice for home appliance panels, offering a uniform texture that effectively masks potential scratches after lamination. The 700#–800# range provides a fine brushed finish, ideal for high-end signage and instrument enclosures. Available tempers include O, H14, H16, H24, and H32, balancing formability with surface hardness.
The production process of brushed aluminum coil utilizes a continuous coil-processing line, consisting of the following sequential steps: coil uncoiling, alkaline degreasing, water rinsing and neutralization, abrasive belt brushing (graining), silane passivation, air drying, protective film application, and recoiling. A key challenge in coil brushing is maintaining consistent tension throughout the entire coil; fluctuations in tension can lead to uneven texture density or localized wrinkling. Our production line maintains tension control precision within ±3%, with the speed of the abrasive belt synchronized to the movement of the coil, ensuring that variations in texture depth across the entire coil are kept within 0.01mm. For passivation, we employ a chromium-free silane conversion coating (2–4μm thick). The standard version withstands 96 hours of salt spray testing without white rust, while a high-durability formulation is available for coastal or high-humidity environments, extending salt spray resistance to 168 hours. Before leaving the factory, the material is covered with a PE protective film; the adhesion level is tailored to the specific downstream processing method—low-tack film for stamping and medium-tack film for cutting/fabrication—to prevent adhesive residue.
The core value of brushed aluminum coil product lies in processing efficiency and surface consistency. Coils can be fed directly into automated production lines, eliminating the time-consuming, repetitive tasks of loading and positioning individual sheets—an ideal solution for large-volume, stable orders. The brushed texture follows a uniform direction, and color consistency is tightly controlled within each batch, making the material well-suited for large-scale decorative paneling. The substrate retains the inherent advantages of aluminum alloy—lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and easy to bend or weld—and is ready for subsequent finishing processes such as powder coating, mirror polishing or anodizing, or it can be used in its raw, exposed state. In practice, many of our overseas clients have reported an 8%–12% increase in material utilization and a significant reduction in scrap waste after switching from brushed aluminum sheets to aluminum coils.
Typical applications of brushed aluminum coil include home appliance panels, cabinetry, interior and exterior decorative curtain walls, signage, elevator interior paneling, and equipment enclosures. We have long-standing supply relationships with clients in North America and Southeast Asia. Among them, several signage manufacturers consistently purchase 0.8mm 3003-H16 aluminum coils with a 400-grit brushed finish. When protected with a clear lacquer, these coils maintain their texture and color stability for 3–4 years in outdoor environments.Haomei Aluminum can reverse-engineer specifications—such as the abrasive belt grit and passivation treatment—based on your drawings or samples. We provide material certification and salt-spray test reports with every shipment. Our export packaging includes moisture-proof paper and plastic film, reinforced with a steel frame, ensuring suitability for long-distance ocean freight. Please share your specifications, intended application, and target market; our technical team will provide a tailored solution and a formal quotation.
